Recognizing the role trees play in our world is important on Arbor Day and Earth Day. Here at Bartlett, however, our arborists strive every day to preserve trees and help educate community members about tree care. On these special holidays, Bartlett crews can be found inside classrooms teaching students, speaking at community events and outside planting trees. On many of the other 363 days of the year, you’ll still find us participating in these activities and out working to protect the trees that beautify our neighborhoods.
Through local events and our many industry and community associations, we support numerous community and green industry initiatives. We also donate time and resources to volunteer work and restoration projects.
Arbor Day and Earth Day community projects 2026
This past April, our Chambersburg, Pennsylvania office helped Rotary Park in Waynesboro, PA become a recognized Arboretum. We completed this project in conjunction with the Waynesboro, PA Shade Tree Commission and the local Rotary Club. Bartlett donated a Tree & Shrub Care Plan. Further, we helped identify and individually tag the park’s trees for record keeping and maintenance purposes.
Our team from Charlotte, North Carolina was also busy supporting a 20-year Bartlett client. We’ve been happy to have a strong relationship with Central Piedmont Community College. For Arbor Day, we helped the college receive its Tree Campus Higher Education designation. Additionally, we visited the school for STEM field day to hand out tree seedlings.
Local Bartlett offices participated in numerous other activities to celebrated Arbor Day and Earth Day. In conjunction with the City of Stamford, Eastern Land Management, and the Stamford Tree Foundation, Bartlett helped plant three trees in its hometown of Stamford, Connecticut. In Mentor, Ohio, outside of Cleveland, an Arborist Representative spoke about tree care as part of a Lunch & Learn event at Steris Biotech. We also attended Historic Garden Week in Virginia, Greenfest in Zionsville, Indiana and the Alvirne High School Job and Career Fair in New Hampshire, to name a few.
Increasing tree and stewardship
Each year, Bartlett distributes thousands of tree seedlings as part of its Bartlett Legacy Tree Program. Arborists provide community outreach to help teach people about the importance of trees while giving away native seedlings to students, reforestation efforts and community groups. While not all of these events happen on Arbor Day and Earth Day, it is a popular time for Bartlett team members to connect with their communities.
At the Bayard Cutting Arboretum in Great River, New York, Arborist Representatives gave away 200 trees on Arbor Day. This included red oak, white oak, pin oak, hackberry and red maple – during. On Long Island, at Quogue Wildlife Refuge, we gave away 600 pin oaks. It’s our ninth year handing out seedlings at the Refuge! Tree seedlings also went home with visitors to Davidson Land Conservancy‘s NatureFest, at an Earth Day celebration at Lockhart State Park in Texas, at the Coeur D’Alene Arbor Day event, and at the Children’s Museum in Dover, New Hampshire.
