Bartlett Tree Experts has a deep commitment to safety. To that extent, we use the three pillars of a high functioning safety program: awareness, assertiveness, accountability. Our Accident and Hazard Prevention Policy states, “Each office fosters an environment where a Safety Culture can develop and permeate every task, no matter how small.”
The staff in each office collaborates to manage its local Safety Program as a team. When at your property to assess the health and safety of your trees, your Arborist Representative also makes a list of potential hazards present on your property that a crew needs to be aware of when working. When the crew arrives at your property, the Crew Leader uses that custom list of hazards to conduct a jobsite briefing with the whole crew; they discuss the hazards on-site (utility locations, steep terrain, traffic, etc.) and any new hazards that may have developed (wasp nests, broken branches, etc.) since the initial inspection. All team members know how to be assertive and will bring up anything they see that hadn’t been mentioned.
Everyone at Bartlett, the President, the Safety Department, the Arborists and Crews, all take an active role in the Safety Program and are accountable to ensure positive outcomes. So, the next time you see Bartlett Tree Experts at work, know that while we are making clients’ properties safer, we are also keeping each other safe.
