Trees have always been a symbol of endurance and longevity. They are a gift to enjoy now and in the future. Since 1872, people have celebrated the importance of trees and their contributions through Arbor Day. Just 35 years after that first Arbor Day, Bartlett Tree Experts was founded in 1907. For more than 100 years, trees have been our legacy. Every day, we marvel at their beauty and work hard to preserve their health. On Arbor Day, especially, we look to help ensure our legacy by teaching people about the importance of trees.
Arbor Day Outreach
It’s wonderful to be able to use our expert tree care skills to support our communities on Earth Day and Arbor Day. This year was no exception. Certified arborists assisted with tree pruning and removal of girdling roots and participated in a number of tree planting events. Volunteers participated in a day of service hosted by the Massachusetts Arborists Association. We helped plant trees at the Brookfield Zoo in Illinois, the Renfrew Museum and Park in Pennsylvania and on the Boston Common. We even helped open a new natural trail in Valhalla, NY
Tree Seedling Giveaways
For Arbor Day, Bartlett’s arborists gave away more than 50,000 tree seedlings as part of the Bartlett Legacy Tree Program. The Company has distributed over 775,000 trees since the program’s inception in 2014. The goal is to raise awareness of the benefits of planting trees, give back and improve the environment through a shared love of trees.
As always, a highlight of these events is educating children and providing them trees to plant. Students everywhere from the East Coast in places including White Plains, NY and Monrovia, MD to the West in Spokane, WA (to name a few!) enjoyed learning about trees and were excited to take home a seedling.
We also worked with local organizations and participated in events to get more trees into the hands of people in the community. Bartlett arborists were spotted at many locations including Harlem Grown in New York City, the Essex Community Foundation in Beverly Farms, MA, the city of Cupertino, CA Earth and Arbor Day Festival and Quogue Wildlife Refuge on Long Island.
