Skeet earned an A.A. in Forestry from Paul Smith's College, gaining experience in sustainable management on their 14,000-acres property. He then earned a B.S in Forestry and a M.S in Resource Management from the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry in Syracuse.

In 1991, Skeet relocated to Illinois and successfully passed the International Society of Arboriculture Certified Arborist examination. Skeet has also earned his Tree Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ).

As a Commercial Arborist, Skeet enjoys being a guest speaker at garden clubs, nurseries, and garden centers. He is a guest instructor at Joliet Junior College and the Morton Arboretum. He serves as a Naperville Riverwalk Commissioner. He has been a guest speaker several times on the Bill Moller show and the Mike Nowak show.

Skeet and his wife, Laura, reside in Naperville, with their hearing-impaired cat, Timber.
