Jim has always had a deep interest in plants. Raised in Pennsylvania, he began his arboriculture career shearing trees and caring for a local nursery. He earned his Associate's Degree in Forest Technology at Penn State, Mont Alto. During his time at Mont Alto, he served as a Senator on the Campus Government, and tutored other students in dendrology, where he spread his knowledge of plant identification. While living in State College, Pennsylvania, Jim operated his own Christmas tree business, giving him a detailed knowledge of the care and dedication needed for scientific tree management. Jim further pursued his interest in arboriculture at The Pennsylvania State University, earning a Bachelor's Degree in Urban Forestry. Jim has spent the last five years working for Bartlett Tree Experts on Nantucket as an Arborist Representative. He is a Certified Arborist with the International Society of Arboriculture, and is a member of the Nantucket Landscape Association. As a proud member of the Nantucket Tree Committee, Jim works with local arborists and landscapers to care for the island's precious trees.
