Gary Raffel let his love of the outdoors guide his path the tree care industry. Spending time in the deer and turkey woods as a youth fostered an interest that would bring him to Paul Smith's college and then onto SUNY ESF, dual majoring in Natural Resource Management and Forest Biology. Throughout his college career Gary worked his way up through the tree care industry to become a climber for various tree companies in need, and later a Plant Health Care Specialist. After graduating ESF he briefly pursued a career in Forestry; but always found himself back in the trees on weekends and days off. After obtaining ISA Certification he spent a decade as the head Arborist for an esteemed Donald Ross private golf club. Later Gary partnered with a friend to help grow his local tree care company. During the next decade they worked together to build a company dedicated to the scientific approach to tree care. Along the way Gary has worked on tree preservation projects throughout the US, Europe, and Asia. It was through the acquisition of the company started by his friend and partner in 1983 that Gary now finds himself as part of the Bartlett team as an Arborist Representative where he is excited to embark upon his next chapter.
