Originally from northern New Hampshire, Derrick moved to the Lowcountry in 1991. After earning an associate degree in Occupational Studies, he chose to follow a different interest and in 1995 Derrick began his career in arboriculture. He joined Bartlett Tree Experts in 2010.

An ISA Certified Arborist, Derrick is Tree Risk Assessment Qualified (TRAQ). He is also a Certified Tree Care Safety Professional (CTSP) and has a South Carolina Pesticide Applicator license. He is a member of The International Society of Arboriculture and the Tree Care Industry Association.

A lover of the outdoors, Derrick has been participating in the annual Tour des Trees since 2010. This 500-mile charity bicycle tour raises money for the nonprofit TREE Fund (Tree Research & Education Endowment Fund).
