James Percy-Lancaster

After completing his Arboricultural training at Merrist Wood, James became a Tree Officer for a Local Planning Authority. There he gained invaluable experience in arboriculture, specialising in TPO legislation, development sites, and woodland management. He also handled various Planning and TPO appeals, appearing as an expert witness at numerous Public Inquiries. James comes from a long line of Horticulturalists (5th generation) but he has decided instead to branch out into the field of arboriculture. Currently, James is the Senior Arboricultural Consultant at Bartlett Tree Experts, advising on many tree-related matters. He prepares consultancy reports for proposed developments according to British Standard 5837: 2012, internal decay detection (using PiCUS® Sonic Tomography/ ARBOTOM® Impulse Tomography and IML-RESI Powerdrill®), tree risk and tree health and safety, insect and disease management and prevention, hedge disputes, woodland conservation and management, tree related subsidence, tree risk for mortgages and insurance purposes. He also offers advice on Tree Preservation Orders (TPO’s) and conducts aerial inspections of trees.
