Check your trees for this common issue

Trees that seem to grow straight from the ground are likely in trouble from buried root collars. This issue increases the likelihood of insects and disease and inhibits the movement of oxygen and carbon dioxide. A buried root collar can also lead to girdling roots. When a buried root collar exists, it is best to address this problem sooner rather than later, as it can lead to the overall decline of the tree.
