Mosquitoes

Now is the time to inspect your property for any areas that could support a mosquito population. Any area or container holding water is a potential mosquito breeding ground including:

• Stagnant water in containers, ponds or bird baths
• Storm drains or catch basins
• Ditches and low-lying depressions in lawns
• Pool covers

Be sure to clear gutters and drains of any debris that would prevent proper water drainage. Additionally, make sure window screens fit snugly and have no tears. Keeping windows shut during peak mosquito hours, at dawn and dusk, can also help prevent mosquitoes from entering your home.

Spray treatments are also available and, when applied correctly, can be highly effective in controlling mosquito populations.
