A primary complaint of gardeners concerns deer and their foraging habits.  They devour many shrubs, apples and the fruit of other trees, vegetable gardens and ornamental gardens.

While deer feed all year long, they cause the heaviest damage to trees and shrubs in winter.  That is why it is important to take steps now to help repel deer from plants before they develop feeding patterns and their browsing becomes damaging.

Fences are an effective method for deterring deer. Many of different types of deer fences are available, and can be purchased at garden and home improvement stores.

Another practical, and highly effective, approach is a repellent program. To deter deer browse in winter, effective protection of evergreens can be obtained with as little as one or two treatments during the dormant season.
