Our arborist and anyone at Bartlett we have been in contact with have provided us with superior service. Heath has been extremely helpful to us in dealing with a series of unusual problems with trees and ornamental shrubs brought on by the extremely wet conditions we have experienced recently at our home and church. Heath is very responsive to questions and concerns we pose. For instance our church will be undertaking a rather large construction project and I was concerned about the trees on our campus. Heath suggested that Bartlett conduct a tree inventory and provide a report about tree health, problems found, valuations of the trees, and recommendations for maintaining the health of the trees. We took his advice and the resulting report was outstanding. If anyone cares about their trees, having Bartlett conduct a tree Inventory will be money well spent.

Heath was friendly and easy to talk to. After studying our giant tree and answering our questions, he outlined possible options. There were no pressure tactics, with his encouragement, we decided to take a week or two to think about what we wanted to do. We ultimately decided to have the tree taken down, and Heath followed through and made all the necessary arrangements. He promised that the company would do everything possible to make sure that little or no damage would be done to our yard, as limbs and pieces of trunk were hand carried to the curb. The company kept its promise. We can not say enough about the wonderful crew of four men and one woman. They worked like players of different instruments in a symphony. The highly trained crew had all the equipment they needed, they looked out for each other because one misstep could have meant injury to someone. If we had a question, they always responded with a smile. And when they finished for the day, the young woman came to the door and informed us that they were leaving and not to forget to lock the basement door we had left open for them. One last comment, the three trucks that arrived for the job were impressive.

Our arborist, Stewart Bunn, who has been our arborist for many years, seems to know and remember our trees almost as well as we do. We love our trees and his advice has been very helpful in making decisions. He is always very responsive to our questions. He returns e-mails or telephone calls very quickly. I/we are also very impressed by the safety concerns that individual employees make in their work--and the overall safety concerns as the work is carried out in the yard.

As you know, I was pleased with the work that your company did on my property here in McLean a month or so ago. The thinning out and pruning has really made a substantial difference in the trees that were trimmed. As I think I mentioned, I just took ownership of a family home on Cape Cod and contracted with your colleagues up there (Steve Heywood was the arborist) and I have to say you now have some competition as they did an equally fantastic job on a couple of trees up there - a Norway maple and an oak tree. What a relief to have had those trees thinned out and pruned and the branches cut back from the roof of the home up there. I cannot say enough about the professionalism of you and your colleagues and the great work you and your crews did and Steve and his crews did. Thanks!

Mr. Scott Bates, the Board-Certified Master Arborist who took care of our tree problem, was truly outstanding. He provided wise counsel and a lab report on the condition of our tree a day after his initial visit. He then informed me that he had a "very good crew" available to remove the tree on March 9, to which I agreed. The crew was highly professional. Their performance left nothing to be desired. Juan was a topflight foreman and operator of the bucket crane and primary chain saw, ably assisted by Miquel and Jose on the ground. They worked quickly, safely, and well. Scott did not exaggerate in calling them "a very good crew." My Bartlett experience, in its totality, was a pleasure. Those involved are to be commended.

Dee and I have been laboring over a difficult question as to our future, and have finally decided that it is time for us to leave our home here and to relocate. We have purchased a small abode located near the University of Michigan campus, that is in a community that includes graduated living accommodations, should the need arise (as it does for most, sooner or later). We expect that we might move by late winter. One implication of this decision of course is that our relationship with Bartlett will come to an end, after all of these years. I want you to know that you have been a wonderful associate, and that we are deeply grateful for your friendship, for your thoughtful advice, and for the excellent services we have received from your firm and your people. Indeed, our gardens reveal the truth: When you began taking care of things, the effects quickly became apparent, and the improvements in the appearance and health of our large plants and trees have continued. Our place is admired by passersby and guests alike, and our neighbors have shown their appreciation many times in their casual comments to us -- “This is the neighborhood showplace”, is what they say. We are proud of the team that has made our gardens what they are. So, I believe that we should bring things to a close by the end of this month, and thus we won’t move ahead with your recent proposal. While that work will be needed eventually, it will become the responsibility of a new owner. And, speaking of that, you may be assured that we will be pleased to recommend your services to the new owners - in writing or otherwise - and encourage them to continue with you.
