John is an Arboricultural Consultant advising on a wide range of tree-related matters including the preparation of proposed development reports according to British Standard 5837: 2012, tree risk and tree health and safety, tree and woodland conservation and management, tree related subsidence, damage and risk, high hedge disputes, planning applications, and tree preservation orders and appeals.
After reading Forestry at the University College of North Wales, John became the Principal Tree and Landscape Conservation Officer for a Local Planning Authority, completing further studies in Ecology and Nature Conservation at the University of London and gaining extensive experience in the diverse fields of arboriculture, urban forestry and landscape planning.
John specialises in planning, relating to tree and landscape matters, in the built and natural environments. He has also appeared as a witness in court cases and Public Inquiries, worked on numerous planning and TPO appeals, and a number of high profile projects, including Heathrow Terminal 5 and High Speed 2.
John is a member of the Society of Biology and a Chartered Biologist. He joined BTE in 2013 and covers predominantly the Midlands, Greater London, and the South East.
