James was born in east Texas and grew up in the rural mountains of Colorado. He has been fascinated with trees since he was young, which led to his career in urban forestry. James graduated from Colorado State University with a degree in Natural Resource Management, specializing in Plant Health. James then successfully built his own tree care company, Tree Top, that operated out of Wellington for 20 years. In 2022 Tree Top became a part of the Bartlett Tree Experts family along with James.

An ISA Certified Arborist and Qualified Supervisor, James has the knowledge and proficiency to help trees thrive. He enjoys cultivating an appreciation for the value of trees in communities and their proper care from the ground up. James wants to extend his passion to those in the Front Range.

In his free time, James enjoys spending time with his family and hound dogs, wildlife sketching and photography, camping, outdoor cooking, hunting, and fishing. His favorite tree is the American elm.
