Gene Basler

Born and raised in Florissant, Missouri, Gene is a two-time graduate of the Defense Language Institute. His interest in soil care began in 1985, while he was working at a wholesale greenhouse in St. Louis. After working with his brother at Basler Tree Service in St. Charles, he joined Bartlett Tree Experts in 2002. He held positions as a climbing arborist, plant health care specialist, soil technician, and crew leader before becoming an Arborist Representative. Gene’s passion is building strong teams and helping to develop arborists’ careers.

Gene is an ISA Board-Certified Master Arborist and ASCA Registered Consulting Arborist. He specializes in plant disease prevention. He enjoys helping people have healthy trees through healthy soils and robust pollinator populations. Gene makes extensive use of the diagnostic resources at the Bartlett Tree Research Laboratories, and particularly enjoys working on professionally managed properties.

Gene is a runner and enjoys hiking with his family and dog. Gene enjoys traveling, learning the medicinal uses of plants, and generally looking for creative ways to get his kids to look up from their screens.
