Bartlett Tree Experts Acquires Kirchner Tree Service

Latest Acquisition Expands Bartlett’s Footprint in Maryland

November 24, 2021 – Stamford, CT – Bartlett Tree Experts is pleased to announce it has expanded its operations in Maryland through the acquisition of Kirchner Tree Service, a tree care business that has operated throughout Howard and Baltimore counties for 32 years.

The acquisition expands Bartlett’s footprint across North America and bolsters the company’s presence in Maryland, where it currently has ten offices. The acquisition further enlarges Bartlett’s tree care services between Ellicott City and Catonsville, MD.

“This acquisition allows us to really expand in this important growth market,” said John Smithmyer, V.P., Division Manager of Bartlett’s Mid-Atlantic Division. “Kirchner Tree Service has an outstanding reputation and was a natural fit for us because of our shared philosophies with an emphasis on exceptional customer service, quality, and safety. The acquisition allows us to grow our presence while providing a full range of scientific tree and shrub care services in Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Lancaster counties.”

“Growth through acquisition continues to be a strong path forward for us, and we are excited about our expansion into new and existing markets with the acquisition of Kirchner Tree Service,” said Jim Ingram, President and COO of Bartlett Tree Experts. “We have enjoyed a relationship with the owner of Kirchner Tree Service for more than 20 years. During that time, our people have developed a mutual respect for each other as arborists, which has helped us provide a seamless transition for all involved. Adding to our well-established presence in Maryland assists us in providing a full range of scientific tree and shrub care services for our customers to maintain beautiful, healthy landscapes.”

The acquisition, which was completed September 24, is Bartlett’s latest in the state.
