December 20, 2022 - Charlottesville, Va. – Bartlett Tree Experts is pleased to announce that it has acquired Grelen Tree Care, Inc. in Central Virginia.

For 20 years, Grelen Tree Care provided quality tree and shrub care services for customers of its partner nursery business, Grelen Nursery, Inc. in Somerset, Virginia.

Bartlett Tree Experts acquired the tree and shrub care side of the business. The Grelen Nursery and The Market at Grelen, Inc. were not part of the acquisition, and will continue to be owned separately by the owners of Grelen.

“Grelen Tree Care was a good cultural fit for us because of their focus on species-specific, quality tree and shrub care,” said Bartlett Vice President Alan Jones. 

Rob Mathes, Managing Partner of Grelen Tree Care and a former Bartlett employee, said the acquisition allows Bartlett to expand its services in the Central Virginia area, providing much-needed professional tree and shrub care services in the region.

Bartlett’s research lab supports their offices in delivering the most advanced tree care solutions available. The team joining Bartlett will work out Bartlett’s existing Charlottesville office; one of 12 offices the company operates in the state of Virginia.
