Small Yet Harmful - Oak Leaf Skeletonizer

Oak Leaf Skeletonizer is a tiny worm that feeds on oak leaves. The adults emerge from April to early May. The first egg hatch is in late May. June is when the larvae begins to skeletonize the oak leaves. There are two generations per year. The second generation adults hatch late July into August, and the second egg hatch is from late August into October.

Wooly Adelgid - Insect News

Wooly Adelgid on Hemlocks start their life cycle as nymphs early March - May that is why it is important to get an oil spray early in the season. A second generation begins July – August so if you missed the early season spray contact your local arborist to be sure to get the hemlocks treated.

Eastern Tent Caterpillar and Fall Webworm - Insect News

Two of the most common pests of deciduous trees are the Eastern tent caterpillar and the fall webworm, whose conspicuous gauzy tents deface roadside trees, home landscape trees, and fruit tree orchards. Although people often confuse the two or mistake them for the gypsy moth, which does not spin a web at all, their life cycles, feeding habits, and time of appearance differ significantly.

Anthracnose - Disease Alert

One of the most common and unsightly diseases of shade trees is Anthracnose. Anthracnose is a foliar disease caused by several species of fungi whose spores, when released, infect newly emerging leaves. The disease, which becomes active in spring, can become severe when cool, wet spring weather persists. Unfortunately, trees most likely to be affected are quite common, such as ash, dogwood, elm, hickory, maple, oak, sycamore, and walnut.

Critical Care for Trees

Now is the most critical time of year to prepare your trees and shrubs for the coming summer. This season brings everything from high temperatures to severe storms. Healthy trees are better able to withstand these extremes so trees should be inspected for signs of common issues like hanging branches, decay, disease, and pest infestations.

What Our Customers Are Saying

Thanks for your aid in getting my job done. Special thanks to Kristen for extending her day to get to me.
Jack B., Harrisburg, PA

Thanks for your help Mark, we enjoy the work done on our silver maple tree.
Daniel S., Halifax, PA

Your crew removed our trees this morning. I accepted your proposal because I was impressed with Bartlett's efforts during hurricane Sandy in New jersey and I was very happy with their performance today. The crew arrived on time and very professionally removed our trees and cleaned up the area. Glenn, Bob, and Chris did a great job. I will recommend Bartlett to my neighbors.
Bill M., Harrisburg, PA

Professional, courteous, good team!
Pat B., Harrisburg, PA

I was very, very pleased with the representative and the crew. From the start of the walk around on my property, the onsite proposal, and the overall work ethic of the crew was impressive. I would highly recommend Bartlett Tree Service. Thank you for a very refreshing experience.
Betty F., Harrisburg, PA

Rely on [our arborist's] recommendations. Professional and personable. Excellent representative for company. As mentioned before, [my] daughter now uses Bartlett for her two properties: farm and residence. Pleasure dealing with T.J. your office contact.

I really appreciate the timely and professional service provided. [Our arborist] did an excellent job in customer service.

Mark was absolutely terrific from beginning to end: knowledgeable, patient, professional, and communicative.

I hired this company for a job that is four hours from where I live. I was not familiar with any of the contractors in the Harrisburg area and did not like using contractors with whom I was not familiar. I went with Bartlett instead of several others because they were the most professional and responsive. Their pricing was a bit higher, but they were well worth it. I highly recommend them.
