Important Advice for Autumn

Fertilization is the single most important proactive measure you can take in caring for your trees this season. Soil care and fertilization in autumn dramatically improve growing conditions and provide the nutrients required for vital tree root development.

Soil Care Tips

Do You Have Magnolia Trees On Your Property?

Magnolia trees add accent to the landscape with fragrant and showy flowers. The magnolia scale insect threatens the beauty of magnolia trees in our landscapes. Left unchecked this pest causes decline in the first year of infestation. Our Arborist Representatives can assess the health of your magnolia and provide a program to protect against this unforgiving pest.

Fertiliztion & Soil Care

A soil sample collected from beneath a tree or shrub can be analyzed for nutrient levels, pH level, organic matter and nutrient retention capacity. This soil test provides valuable information on how to adequately address soil deficiencies and apply fertilizer correctly. Call us today to have your soil tested.

Japanese Beetles

Compared to previous seasons, the Japanese Beetles appear to be more evenly distributed. They are not hard to find.

Chlorosis: Yellowing of leaves

Chlorosis is a yellowing condition of trees that are iron deficient. Trees in the Midwest that are most susceptible are pin oaks, red maples, and river birch, although it can be seen in red and white oaks and white birch as well. This can be remedied over time through soil amendments and iron supplements, although a soil test prior to diagnosis and treatment is recommended.

Buried Root Collar Can Harm Your Tree

How do the roots look on your tree? Can you seen them? Trees are much healthier when excess mulch and soil are clear of root and trunk tissue.
