I have a Heritage river birch that loses 75% of its leaves every year early in July and creates quit a mess. It also looks terrible once the leaves fall. Otherwise, it seems to be in good health. I planted it as an eight-foot sapling nine years ago. It is now twenty-five feet tall. Unless I can find a solution, I plan to cut it down and replace it with something else. I hesitate only because it is a beautiful specimen with its leaves on.

An arborist should visit your property to inspect the river birch to determine the options.
