I grow my own fruit and vegetables and am concerned about food contamination from fertilizing my trees and shrubs. Should I be worried?
When selecting a fertilizer to be used near vegetable gardens, make sure it contains only fertilizer (no herbicides or other pesticides) that could damage or contaminate food plants. Most landscape fertilizers that contain only nutrients are safe to use near edible food plants, but read the label carefully to make sure that there are no precautions regarding using the product near fruit and vegetables. All of Bartlett’s proprietary products can be safely used near edible plants and are routinely applied to fruit and nut trees to manage deficiencies. Many clients prefer natural or organic products in their pest and soil management programs. For that reason, we have developed a complete line of natural soil management products for managing plant health.
